ImageWare Named to 2001 Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 3, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) today announced that it was named to the 2001 Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, ranking 345th of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America. Rankings are based on the percentage growth in revenues from 1996 to 2000; ImageWare's revenues grew 1,512 percent during this period.

"All of our business divisions have contributed to ImageWare's excellent growth, and we appreciate being recognized for our accomplishments to date," said Jim Miller, ImageWare's chairman and chief executive officer. "Recent events have placed particular importance on safety and security issues. Our ID Group, which offers innovative software that bolsters facility security and enhances employee safety, as well as our law enforcement software, which assists police and sheriffs departments in the apprehension of criminal suspects, are well-suited to address the needs of these markets. We look forward to further establishing ImageWare as a leader in all of the markets we serve."

"With its ranking on the prestigious Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, ImageWare's leaders have proven that they have the vision and the fortitude to excel in the highly competitive technology industry," said Mark A. Evans, managing director of Deloitte & Touche's Technology and Communications Group. "We congratulate them on becoming one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in the U.S. and Canada."

The Fast 500 list is compiled from three sources: winners of Deloitte & Touche's 22 regional North American Fast 50 programs, nominations submitted directly to the Fast 500, and public company database research. To qualify for the Fast 500, entrants must have had 1996 revenues of at least $50,000, must be public or private companies headquartered in North America and be a "technology company," defined as a company that develops proprietary technology which contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues, manufactures a technology-related product, or devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology. The list of all 500 companies is available on the Internet at www.forbes.com or www.fast500.com.
