Carlsberg A/S: Baltika Builds New Russian Brewery


COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Feb. 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Carlsberg A/S (CSE:CARL).

The Russian brewery Baltika, which is a subsidiary of Baltic Beverages Holding AB (BBH), is building a new brewery in Samara in Russia. The population of Samara is approx. 20 million and Samara is located in the Volga-region between Moscow and the Urals.

The cost of the project is estimated to be approx. USD 50 million and will include a brewery with a yearly capacity of 1 million hl beer and an infrastructure, which makes it possible to increase capacity to 3 million hl. Baltika is financing the project, which is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2003.

BBH is 50/50 owned by Carlsberg Breweries A/S and Oyj Hartwall Abp.
