Carlsberg A/S: BBH Invests Approximately USD 50 Million in New Brewery in Ukraine


COPENHAGEN, Denmark, May 8, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Baltic Beverages Holding AB (BBH) initially invests approx. USD 50 million in the building of a new brewery in Kiev in Ukraine. From the start the brewery will have a capacity of 1.2 million hl beer and is expected to be running in 2004. Later on, investments to expand the capacity will be undertaken.

The aim of the investment is to strengthen BBH's position in the capital area which has a strong purchasing power and at the same time to optimize distribution.

Today, BBH has a market share of 20 per cent and two other breweries in Ukraine - Slavutich in the Eastern part and Lvivska Pivovarnija in the Western part of Ukraine.
