Church's Chicken Expands Marketing Team


ATLANTA, Aug. 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Church's Chicken(tm), a division of AFC Enterprises, Inc. (Ticker:AFCE), today announced the hiring of Connie Day as Director of Advertising and Sales Promotion, Andrew Christy in the new post of Director of Global Marketing for Asia, the Middle East and South Africa, and Karen Shelton in the new position of Communications Manager, encompassing external communications, public relations, community affairs and web content development.

Ms. Day has extensive experience in corporate marketing and in advertising with some of the nation's leading ad agencies. She was most recently the Senior Director of Marketing for Schwan's Bakery, Inc., which purchased Edward's Fine Foods, where Connie had been since 1997. Her duties included marketing plan development, advertising and consumer promotion and event marketing. Prior to that, Ms. Day's experience included strategic consulting for MARTA and Vice President for Team Resources, Inc., an international training and consulting company. She began her career on the agency side in account management at Bozell Worldwide and McCann Erickson, and as a media planner/buyer at Leo Burnett Worldwide.

Mr. Christy's role as Director of Global marketing for Asia, the Middle East and South Africa includes responsibility for continued growth of Church's markets globally. Previously, Mr. Christy worked for almost ten years with Leo Burnett in Hong Kong. His jobs included Integrated Communications Manager and Regional Director of Marketing Services and he launched Greater China's marketing services department for Burnett. Mr. Christy was voted by Media Magazine as "Suit of the Year" for Asia-Pacific in 1995. Prior to that, Mr. Christy worked with Clinique in Hong Kong and Singapore and Estee Lauder as a presidential intern. An American citizen born in New Delhi, India, Mr. Christy graduated from Colby College.

Ms. Shelton joins Church's in the role of overseeing all external communications. Most recently, Ms. Shelton established and managed her own business, Bingwa Software Company, which created educational technology solutions for urban school systems and fraternal organizations nation-wide. In 1998, she was voted one of Atlanta's Top 100 Women by the Atlanta Business League. She began her career as an aerospace engineer with companies such as Lockheed Martin.
