Retail Veteran Sherry Smith Scheduled to Speak at FILC Fall Forum in Portland

CERRITOS, Calif., Oct. 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sherry Smith, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Mass Connections(r), the nation's leader in retail marketing services, is scheduled to speak at the Food Industry Leadership Center (FILC) in Portland, Oregon on October 16th and 17th. The two day conference is held at Portland State University and will include retail industry leaders, as well as the Portland State faculty and student body.

As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Ms. Smith has watched her company grow as the leader in retail marketing, serving the nation's top retailers and consumer product groups from coast to coast. In that time Mass Connections has successfully improved overall promotional marketing standards while obtaining ISO 9001:2000 certification and adopting Sarbanes-Oxley accounting principles, rare for a private firm. And with the Internet increasing its presence as a communications forum, Mass Connections developed "Staying-Connected," a website that receives real-time feedback from consumers on the latest products.

"I am honored to be a speaker and a guest at the FILC Fall Forum at Portland State University," says Smith. "This is an excellent opportunity for retail leaders and experts to share their success with aspiring young students that wish to enter the rewarding retail industry."

Mass Connections places a strong emphasis on educational avenues for employees and college students. The company has published two books analyzing shopper, manufacturer, and retailer research -- "Touch America: The Consumer Connection" and "Touch America: The Shopper Connection" -- as educational tools for university marketing classes. The company also developed a documentary to coincide with the book's publishing entitled "Impulse," which examines consumer purchasing. Within the company, employees can receive online education for new programs and products important to Mass Connections and its clients.

The FILC seeks to educate students on the food, beverage and consumer packaged goods industry. The two day conference will feature several panel discussions on a variety of retail subjects, including both a "Women's Leadership Forum" and an "Executive Forum." Ms. Smith will be a panelist at the "Women's Leadership Forum," participating on both days of the conference to share her insights and experiences with students, faculty and guests.
