Thomas M. Doring Appointed as Executive Vice President of Vacon, Inc.


VAASA, Finland, Sept. 11, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The global AC drives manufacturer Vacon has appointed Thomas M. Doring as Executive Vice President for Sales, Marketing and Service of Vacon, Inc., USA. Mr. Doring will join Vacon on 1 October 2008 after being almost 20 years with Eaton Corporation, a diversified power management company, headquartered in the United States.

He will be a valuable asset to us now when Vacon is establishing a foothold as an AC drives manufacturer in the North American market and as a truly global company," says Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon.

Thomas M. Doring (B.Sc. in El. Eng.) will be responsible for sales, marketing and after-market services in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Doring will also be the deputy of Dan Isaksson, President of Vacon, Inc. After Mr. Isaksson's planned return to the parent company in Finland in the end of 2009, Mr. Doring will take his place as President of Vacon Inc.

Mr. Doring has been with Eaton since 1989 and acted as the Business Unit Manager for Eaton's Power Controls Business Unit since January 2007. His primary responsibility in this role was to advance the profitable growth of this $400M Power Control business. Eaton's Power Controls business predominantly entails motor control products and solutions for Electro-Mechanical and Electronic AC and DC motor applications.

Finland-based Vacon acquired the AC drives business of US-based TB Wood's in January 2008, and established Vacon, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary in Chambersburg, PA. Vacon, Inc. is responsible for all Vacon operations in the United States and for integrating TB Wood's AC drives business into the Vacon Group.
