Panasonic Selects InPlay's MagicPoint Digital Pen and Touch Solution for Innovative New Toughbook CF-H1

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 15, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InPlay Technologies (Nasdaq:NPLA) today announced that its unique digital pen and touch interface solution has been selected for Panasonic's Toughbook(r) CF-H1, the first fully-rugged mobile clinical assistant (MCA).

The Toughbook CF-H1 features InPlay's battery-free, digital pen, combined with a 10.4" touchscreen, allowing users to choose the most natural and effective input method. The system has undergone rigorous testing to ensure reliable, high-quality performance.

An innovative design based on Panasonic's own industry research and Intel(r)'s mobile clinical assistant reference design, the Toughbook CF-H1 is designed to improve workflow for doctors and nurses. InPlay's dual pen-and-touch solution provides an easy, intuitive interface allowing healthcare professionals to access patient records at the point of care, and document a patient's condition in real time.

"We are very pleased to be chosen by Panasonic, a recognized leader in the rugged mobile computing field," said Van Potter, InPlay President and CEO. "It is particularly gratifying to be included in the CF-H1. Panasonic has developed an impressive full-featured device that expands upon the standard list of MCA features to provide a very useful tool for hospitals and clinics."

InPlay offers the only digital communication pen technology on the market, bringing significant advantages over traditional analog products. With InPlay's integrated digital pen and touch solutions, the system automatically recognizes pen or finger input, and incorporates palm rejection to avoid unintentional input thereby creating a comfortable user experience. The active digital pen optimizes handwriting recognition and allows for added digital features, while the touch screen offers a quick intuitive interface for cursor selection and navigation.
