SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 9, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Employee volunteers from Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Navigation Systems Division facility here recently sponsored a holiday dinner for 150 local families whose children are members of the Lied Boys & Girls Club.
Held at the Lied Boys & Girls Club, the dinner was donated and served by Northrop Grumman employee volunteers, who also presented each child in attendance with a holiday gift as part of the outreach event.
"Community outreach is an important part of our culture at Northrop Grumman, and we enjoy working with the Lied Boys & Girls Club," said Terry Simms, an operations manager at Northrop Grumman who helped organized the event. "The holiday dinner is an opportunity to celebrate with the children and families we've worked with throughout the year."
Northrop Grumman's Salt Lake City facility adopted the Lied Boys & Girls Club as a charity in 2009. The company has held multiple outreach activities benefiting the Lied Boys & Girls Club this year, including an event to teach children about recycling and environmental awareness. Employees also donated school supplies and held fundraisers in support of the Lied Boys & Girls Club, which offers after-school programs to local youth addressing educational achievement, career exploration, leadership development, and community service.
