Kirtland & Packard LLP: Toyota Judge Appoints Michael Louis Kelly to Lead Counsel Committee

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., May 17, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Judge James Selna has appointed Michael Louis Kelly to serve on the Plaintiff's Lead Counsel Committee for Economic Loss in the multidistrict litigation against Toyota Motor Corp.

Earlier this year, all class action lawsuits stemming from Toyota's ongoing problems with unintended acceleration in its vehicles were consolidated into a single court in Santa Ana, California. At that time, Judge Selna was selected as the federal judge that would preside over the cases.

"I'm honored to have been appointed and grateful for the opportunity to work with the incredibly high caliber of the other attorneys who will form the leadership of the Toyota case," said Kelly upon learning of his appointment. "Our challenge will be to litigate this case against a company with unlimited financial and legal resources, to obtain justice for the millions affected."

In this newly appointed leadership position, Michael Louis Kelly will help direct the litigation against Toyota for the economic losses sustained over 8 million owners of recalled Toyota vehicles.

MICHAEL LOUIS KELLY is recognized as one of the Leading 500 Plaintiff Lawyers in the United States. His numerous record-setting jury verdicts have dramatically expanded consumer protections and safeguards, and kept him at the top of the corporate wrongdoer's "most wanted" list. Mr. Kelly practices with the law firm of Kirtland & Packard LLP located in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
