PIMCO Announces 2017 Managing Directors


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of the following officers of the firm to Managing Director.

Michael Cudzil
Mr. Cudzil is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office, and a senior member of the liability driven investment portfolio management team. He has served as chair of the Americas Portfolio Committee, as a rotating member on the PIMCO Investment Committee and his portfolio expertise spans co-head of the agency MBS portfolio management team. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2012, he worked as a managing director and head of pass-through trading at Nomura. Mr. Cudzil previously held similar roles at Bank of America and Lehman Brothers, as well as a senior trading position at Salomon Brothers. He has 20 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sachin Gupta
Mr. Gupta is a Managing Director and global portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, and head of the Global Desk. He is a member of the European Portfolio Committee, a rotating member of the Asia-Pacific Portfolio Committee and has served as a rotating member of the Investment Committee. Previously, he was in PIMCO's London office managing European LDI portfolios. Before that, he was part of PIMCO’s global portfolio management team in the Singapore office. In these roles, he focused on investments in government bonds, foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives across global markets. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, he was in the fixed income and currency derivatives group at ABN AMRO Bank. He has 19 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from XLRI, India. He received an undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Alec Kersman
Mr. Kersman is a Managing Director and head of PIMCO Latin America and the Caribbean. Based in Brazil, he is responsible for setting strategic direction for the region and leading a team of PIMCO professionals to deliver innovative investment solutions and best-in-class service to Latin America clients. He serves as the legal representative for PIMCO LLC in Colombia and as director of PIMCO Latin America Administradora de Carteiras Ltda, PIMCO's legal entity in Brazil. Previously, he spent seven years in PIMCO's New York and Newport Beach offices in different roles. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2005, Mr. Kersman worked at BBVA’s pension fund in Argentina, where he focused on product and business development. He has 16 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a J.D. degree from the University of Buenos Aires.

John Kirkowski
Mr. Kirkowski is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office and a member of PIMCO's executive office with responsibility for financial and strategic initiatives. He previously served as a product manager with a specialization in credit strategies, and as an account manager working with institutional clients. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the investment banking, convertible bond and municipal bond groups. He also worked for one year at the non-profit 9/11 United Services Group in New York. He has 15 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree in economics from Yale University.

Laurent Luccioni, Ph.D.
Mr. Luccioni is a Managing Director and portfolio manager in the London office where he oversees the European commercial real estate team. His responsibilities include sourcing, underwriting and managing opportunistic equity and debt real estate investments across all property types. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2013, he was the European CEO for MGPA, the Macquarie-backed private equity real estate investment advisory company. Additionally, he worked with Cherokee Investment Partners in London. He has 18 years of investment and financial services experience and holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

Rene Martel, FSA, CFA
Mr. Martel is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office. He is head of pension solutions in the Americas and focuses on liability-driven investments, asset allocation and asset-liability management strategies for pension funds and insurance companies. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2006, he was responsible for conducting asset-liability modeling and recommending risk management strategies for pension plan sponsors at Mercer Investment Consulting. He also advised institutional clients on asset allocation, investment policy and investment manager selection. He has 15 years of investment experience and holds an undergraduate degree in actuarial science from Laval University. Mr. Martel also holds the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation.

Roger Nieves, CFA
Mr. Nieves is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office and head of the enterprise coverage team within PIMCO’s U.S. Global Wealth Management group. In this role, Mr. Nieves is responsible for overseeing PIMCO’s coverage of strategic relationships with U.S.-domiciled broker-dealers, banks, and trust banks. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2001, he was a manager of financial analysis at Nissan Motor Corporation. He has 19 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from Washington University, St. Louis. He also holds a master's degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine.

Cathleen Stahl
Ms. Stahl is a Managing Director in the Newport Beach office and head of global marketing at PIMCO. In this capacity, she oversees brand, creative, advertising and content strategy as well as the channel and digital marketing teams in support of the firm’s global business. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2011, she was a managing director and head of marketing at Allianz Global Investors Distributors. Previously, she was a consultant at Tiller, an advocacy marketing agency. Before that, she worked at OppenheimerFunds running business development projects for the wealth management group and managing corporate marketing programs. Ms. Stahl serves as a board member for both The PIMCO Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast. Ms. Stahl is the author of "Twin Set," a nonfiction book about parenting twins published by Random House in July 2008. She received an undergraduate degree from Saint Mary's College. 

Eve Tournier
Ms. Tournier is a Managing Director in the London office and head of pan-European credit portfolio management. She is the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s global multi-sector credit strategies as well as dedicated European credit and European income-oriented portfolios and is also a member of the European Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2008, she was a managing director and European head of high yield credit trading with Deutsche Bank in London. Previously, she worked in credit derivatives trading at Deutsche Bank and at J.P. Morgan in New York. She has 18 years of investment experience and holds a master’s degree in operations research and financial engineering from Cornell University and an undergraduate degree from Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
