MASS Communications Named to Crain’s 2017 Best Places to Work for in New York City

Tech Firm Recognized for Third Straight Year for Thriving Workplace

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MASS Communications announced today its selection to Crain’s 100 Best Places to Work in New York City for the third consecutive year.

The prestigious award recognizes companies with the most engaged employee workforces. The annual rankings are considered the gold standard for identifying the best employers in New York City, and are unique in that the rankings rely heavily on employee engagement surveys, which account for 75% of the ranking calculation.

“Crain’s recognition is incredibly gratifying given the weight placed on employee feedback. Building a culture of trust and engagement has been our mission from day one,” says Darren Mass, CEO of MASS Communications, adding.  “It’s how we’ve been able to attract and keep some of the telecom industry’s brightest talent, and to build a successful people-centric business.”

The study, now in its tenth year, represented a wide array of industries throughout the five boroughs.

With 42 employees and double-digit annual revenue growth, MASS Communications continues to stand out as a sought-after tech employer. This past July, the telecom networking company joined the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll in recognition of consistent revenue growth performance. MASS Communications designs highly resilient voice and data networks, and provides simplified one-stop monitoring and support for their clients’ entire telecom infrastructure, including links not provided by MASS.

MASS Communication provides 100% healthcare, vision and dental coverage to employees and their families. In addition to numerous incentive and bonus programs, the firm treats employees to lunch every Friday, covers personal cell phone bills, and gives staff time off each year to volunteer for a charity or cause of their choice in addition to providing donations to the designated organization.

“Happy, engaged employees translates to a thriving workplace,” notes Marc Gold, President & Chief Operating Officer.

David L. Schwed, General Counsel and CIO, agrees, observing that what distinguishes MASS Communications from other companies is how tightly ingrained the employee culture is to foster accountability and engagement.

“We reward employees who think first about customers and are exceptional at their job. When our people feel valued and taken care of, they are ready and willing to go above and beyond for our customers and partners and that’s what has made all the difference for us,” he explains.

Crain’s two-part survey process consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. The second part examined employee survey data to measure the employee experience. The combined scores, weighted at 25% and 75% respectively, determined the top companies and the final ranking.

Crain’s will unveil the 2017 rankings at an awards luncheon on December 1, 2017.  For more information on the Best Places to Work in New York City program, visit www.BestPlacesToWorkNYC.com.
