DENMARK, Nov. 30, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Tele Danmark Mobil today announced the launch of the world's fastest high-speed mobile data service, which allows for up to six times faster mobile data speed. Netverk, an Iceland-based mobile data technology specialist, has developed the solution.
The new ultra high speed service will be sold under the name Mobil Express. It will allow GSM users to experience six times faster data speeds when connecting via the data enabled GSM phone or portable PC. Mobil Express combined with High Speed Data will significantly increase mobile data speed and to a level not having been available before. Mobil Express also allows for automatic redial and re-establishment of documents from the last point of sent information should the connection fall out.
Tele Danmark Innovation is investing DKK 17.7m in Netverk, an Iceland based mobile data technology specialist. Netverk provides high-speed mobile data communication solutions for services like e-mail and Internet. Other shareowners in Netverk include Holberg Masson, National Bank of Iceland, Citicorp Capital Asia Ltd., Equity Bridge Finanz GmbH and Belgacom Multimedia Ventures.
Today's announcement is a clear illustration of how Tele Danmark's organizational structure is optimizing synergies. Tele Danmark Innovation established contact to Netverk and Tele Danmark Mobil rapidly and efficiently launched a new service to customers.
