Nokia and Computer Associates announce agreement to deliver enterprise-class management and functionality to mobile ebusiness

Nokia, a world leader in mobile communications, and Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the world's leading provider of eBusiness management solutions, today announced an agreement to work together on a fully integrated information technology solution that will provide enterprise–class manageability across the mobile computing landscape.

Through this agreement, the companies' corporate customers will be able to leverage the Nokia 9210 Communicators to deliver manageable, high-value applications and services that fully integrate with existing enterprise IT resources through CA’s Unicenter TNG. A company’s worldwide sales force, for example, could synchronize pricing updates through wireless telephones. A specialized Unicenter TNG agent will be made available simultaneously with the release of the Nokia 9210 Communicator.

The agreement comes in response to growing customer demand for high-level control of mobile communication devices such as the Nokia 9210 Communicator, which have become essential components of today's dynamic eBusiness environments. By integrating their respective eBusiness management and intelligent communications technologies, CA and Nokia will deliver this control, enabling enterprises to treat intelligent mobile devices as full-fledged nodes in the enterprise network.

The CA/Nokia announcement coincides with today’s launch of CA’s mobile eBusiness initiative.

“Working together with companies such as Computer Associates, Nokia is continuing to meet the needs of its customers as they capitalize on the significant opportunities of today's mobile Internet," said Teijo Heistola, general manager, corporate sales, Nokia Mobile Phones. “Our goal is to continue providing mobile solutions that exceed our customers' highest expectations. Through this agreement, we are bringing added value to the users of our technology throughout the corporate world."

"As intelligent mobile devices become more prevalent, it’s becoming increasingly vital to manage them as part of the overall corporate infrastructure," said Tarkan Maner, vice president of corporate marketing, CA. "The Nokia 9210 Communicator is a prime example of such an indispensable tool, which is why we are so excited about the opportunity that this partnership provides when addressing the needs of today's highly mobile business professionals."

With the Nokia 9210 Communicator, users can exchange information between business colleagues, suppliers and customers to transform their company's productivity, performance and profitability. Whatever the size of the business, the Nokia 9210 Communicator will prove to be an indispensable mobile communications tool, with the ability to deliver immediate results. The Nokia 9210 Communicator is a total mobile business solution, combining the mobile phone with the Internet. It encompasses e-mail, SMS, fax, WAP, office applications, pictures, and multimedia. Other functions include a calendar, notes and contacts -- all encased in a single elegant, slim and ergonomic unit. The system is compatible with a number of database systems, enterprise level applications or customized software clients, and can be set up with multiple Internet email configurations.

Recognizing the rapidly growing importance of mobile Internet applications and services on eBusiness management, Nokia and CA have also conducted interoperability tests between Unicenter TNG and Nokia WAP server solutions for the corporate marketplace.

Unicenter TNG delivers a comprehensive set of tightly integrated management capabilities that provides a centralized, cohesive method for managing an organization's eBusiness infrastructure. This powerful integration extends to platforms, resources and management functions. By eliminating the need to discretely manage these resources, Unicenter TNG optimizes system availability, improves overall performance and can even predict when system outages might occur.
