Quovad Announces Availability of QuoVE High-Performance Workstations for Digital Designers

New Vector Engines Offer Leading-Edge Performance at a Fraction of the Cost of Comparable Workstations; Quovad to Give Away One Free Workstation Each Month

IRVINGTON, N.Y., April 11, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Quovad, the enterprise development unit of NW Direct Design & Manufacturing, today announced the launch of QuoVE(tm) a new line of technologically advanced graphic workstations available direct at www.quove.com.

Created for designers by designers, QuoVE(tm) workstations will enable advanced function capability in processing, multitasking, scalability, benchmarking and project management at significantly lower costs than comparable available products. The workstations will also evolve continuously to reflect new advances in hardware development.

Initially, Quovad will offer three different QuoVE(tm) models catering to varying design and budgetary requirements:

QuoVE(tm) -- VE4210XX / "Wex" -- is the most advanced QuoVE(tm) workstation, equipped with 128 MB Oxygen(r) GVX420 256 bit dual head (VGA or DVI-I) lead video card, 133 MHz front side bus, dual Intel(r) Pentium(r) III 1 GB processors, 1,024 MB 800 MHz Rambus RAM memory, Platinum 5.1 Sound Card, 10,000 rpm Ultra 36 GB hard drive, and room to expand within a functional custom case. The price of the "Wex" model is $8,384.00.

QuoVE(tm) -- VE2102XE / "Simon" -- is the mid level QuoVE(tm) workstation, equipped with dual video cards (Oxygen(r) GVX1 Pro AGP 64 MB lead card), 133 MHz front side bus, dual Intel(r) Pentium(r) III 1 GB processors, 512 MB 800 MHz Rambus RAM memory, Platinum 5.1 Sound Card, 10,000 rpm Ultra 36 GB hard drive, and room to expand within a functional custom case. The price of the "Simon" model is $6,438.00.

QuoVE(tm) -- VE2102XE / "Dano" -- is the entry level QuoVE(tm) workstation, equipped with a single 3D Prophet II GTS 64 MB video card, 133 MHz front side bus, Intel(r) Pentium(r) III 1 GB processor, 256 MB 800 MHz Rambus RAM memory, Platinum 5.1 Sound Card, 10,000 rpm Ultra 36 GB hard drive, and room to expand within a functional custom case. The price of the "Dano" model is $4,763.00.

Each QuoVE(tm) will come preloaded with buyer's choice of Windows 2000 Professional or Redhat Linux.

Based on benchmark testing by Competitive Systems Analysis, Inc., the midrange QuoVE(tm) "Simon" is 70% faster than a comparable single Intel(r) Pentium(r) 4 processor configuration. In addition, the QuoVE(tm) engines are priced between 20-40% lower than comparable workstations currently offered by Sun(r) Microsystems and Silicon Graphics(r).

"Designers should be proud of their tools, and confident in their abilities to perform under the most demanding conditions," said Stavros Aloizos, Director of Quovad. "We know today's leading digital creators (designers, artists and engineers from all fields) need to simultaneously operate multiple applications and renderings to maximize efficiency and accuracy in creating compelling and innovative graphic and digital content. QuoVE(tm) stations make this possible at a very reasonable price -- and based our own experiences, once you've worked with a machine this advanced, you'll never go back to a conventional box."

"Too much design and programming time is spent waiting for a machine to recalculate or project data, which over the course of a year can translate to weeks of billable time wasted," said Dan Nienhauser, President of Quovad. "A designer's computer is his partner, and with digital engineers required to operate with extreme efficiency and accuracy, they need a computer that they can count on to keep up."

QuoVE(tm) also announced today that one QuoVE(tm) VE2102XE machine will be given away each month to Vector Engineers who register online, at www.quove.com, (a $6,438 value).

The product line features custom-designed cases in soda-bottle green with aluminum moldings and supports for stability and aesthetic appeal.

Phase II of the QuoVE(tm) product offering will be a line of custom designed multiple flat screen panoramas incorporating the highest standards in quality and performance at dealer direct pricing.
