STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 23, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Elekta has received several large orders from major hospitals in Europe and Asia. The total order value is approximately SEK $250 million. The orders are comprised of a number of Elekta Precise Treatment Systems for treatment of cancer including linear accelerator, simulator and auxiliary equipment.

"In particular, it is good to note the resurgence in our Asian business, which included several linear accelerator units to leading hospitals in Taiwan. Included were also a large package of orders from the Netherlands and additional units as part of the third wave of The New Opportunities Fund (NOF) funding in the UK," Stieber concluded.
