EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 30, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems sector today appointed Gary Ervin to the new position of vice president and deputy of its Air Combat Systems business area.
Mr. Ervin is responsible for overall management of the business area, reporting to Scott J. Seymour, sector vice president-Air Combat Systems.
Mr. Ervin joins Northrop Grumman from the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in Palmdale, Calif., where he served most recently as vice president-Advanced Development Programs. During his 22-year career at the Skunk Works, he also held positions as director, Special Technology; deputy program manager for the F-117 Stealth Fighter and product manager of the X-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
He joined Lockheed Martin after graduating with a B.S. in mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Major activities at the Air Combat Systems business area, based in El Segundo, include the F/A-18 Super Hornet strike fighter (as principal subcontractor to The Boeing Company); the B-2 stealth bomber; the Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned reconnaissance system and the X-47A Pegasus unmanned vehicle, which will demonstrate flying qualities for a naval unmanned combat air vehicle.
