JRockit 3.1 JVM with Enhanced Performance Available for Free Trial Download

JRockit Java Virtual Machine is Designed for Server Side Java Execution to Deliver Performance and Scalability Suitable for Enterprise Computing

SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 17, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Appeal Virtual Machines, a technology leader in manageable and high performance Virtual Machines for the Java platform, today announced version 3.1 of the company's JRockit product line, available immediately for download from the company's web site at www.jrockit.com. The free trial license allows for 30 days of testing, benchmarking and production evaluation.

"Our engineering team is focused on optimizing scalability and performance of the JRockit Java Virtual Machine(tm. The team is leveraging the solid architecture of JRockit to deliver significant enhancements against aggressive development schedules. We have come a long way in improving the execution of server side Java and we will continue to deliver state of the art virtual machines," said David Parker, CEO, Appeal Virtual Machines.

Appeal Virtual Machines' JRockit 3.1 features several performance enhancements such as improved code generation, a newly designed parallel garbage collector for multiprocessor systems and faster startup. Increased performance of the generated code gives faster execution of Java programs. Newly designed parallel garbage collector uses all processors, thus decreasing the pause times. Improved efficiency of the JIT compiler and runtime system gives shorter startup time.

Internal tests once again show record scalability. JRockit is certified by Sun Microsystems as fully compatible with the Java2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) on the Windows NT/2000/XP, Solaris and Linux operating systems.

Appeal Virtual Machines' JRockit products are designed and optimized for the demands of server side execution of Java technology, including multi-user scalability, non-disruptive garbage collectors, optimizations targeted for multiprocessors, and the ability to monitor and manage the execution of Java technology based applications.
