Shanxi Mobile Communication Company of China has chosen Nokia's mPosition for its mobile location services

Nokia Neu Commtech Co., Ltd. is Nokia's Chinese joint venture and one of the leading companies in China for mobile data services.

With Nokia's mPosition, Shanxi MCC will be able to implement mobile location services in its multi-vendor GSM network. This represent the first such deployment in China, demonstrating the Nokia mPosition's ability to interwork with network infrastructure from other vendors.

Under the agreement, Nokia will provide its Nokia Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC), Serving Mobile Location Center (SMLC), and other network products that make up the mPosition solution. In addition, the contract calls for installation and roll-out. Deliveries start immediately, and the system will be deployed in February 2002.
