Jaakko Pöyry Group to participate in emissions and green certificates trading


Electrowatt-Ekono Oy, Finland, which is part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Energy business group, has concluded a cooperation agreement with GreenStream Network Oy, Finland. According to the agreement, Electrowatt-Ekono will acquire a shareholding of 13.33 per cent of GreenStream Network with a voting right of 17 per cent. PCA Corporate Finance Oy and KGB Schleswig-Holsteinische Kapital-Beteiligungsgesellschaft, a subsidiary of Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein Girozentrale, have a corresponding shareholding. GreenStream Network's operative management owns the remaining shares.

GreenStream Network Oy (GSN) was established in July 2001 and is the first company in the Nordic countries to act as a broker in the trade in emissions and green certificates. The objective of the cooperation agreement is to utilise synergy benefits gained from Electrowatt-Ekono's consulting and engineering services and GSN's role as a broker. Electrowatt-Ekono's presence in major international markets and GreenStream Network's extensive brokering know-how promote both parties' business.

Cooperation will in the beginning concentrate in Finland, Sweden and the UK. The purpose is to expand the cooperation between the two companies through Electrowatt-Ekono's international office network. The agreement concluded enhances the activities of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Energy business group in emissions and green certificates trading and strengthens the business group's climate change and renewable energy business. As a result of the cooperation agreement, Electrowatt-Ekono will cover the whole service chain from business strategies to emissions and green certificates trading.
