Kreatel in Live Demo of MPEG-4 Video Over DSL at Cebit

LINKOPING, Sweden, March 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Swedish company Kreatel Communications AB in partnership with Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH, Germany, makes a live demonstration of MPEG-4 streaming TV and video services over DSL networks at the Cebit exhibition in Hannover.

The demo will take place in the stand of Lucent Technologies, where MCI, a systems integrator and consultant company within media and telecom, will show streaming media services using DSL technology from Lucent Technologies and the new, not yet released, MPEG-4 ready broadband TV terminal (set-top box) from Kreatel.

Broadband over the telephone network, so called DSL technology, starts to mature. Increasingly high transmission rates in combination with MPEG- 4 video compression technology and the supply of advanced TV terminals for IP services now enable the delivery of interactive multimedia services over the telephone line. Several telecom operators around the world have launched or will in a near future launch TV and video services in their networks.

- The fact that the telcos start moving indicates that the broadband market now seriously takes off, says Lars Bengtsson, MD at Kreatel. Our new broadband TV terminal with support for MPEG-4 will be commercially launched this spring and we are confident that it will be well positioned for the important ADSL segment. - We are happy to be able to show our technology at the Cebit exhibition, Lars Bengtsson continuos. Germany is one of the most interesting markets for Kreatel and together with MCI we can offer a very attractive solution for DSL TV and video services across Europe.
