Harland Printed Products Introduces New Quality Tool for Check Processing

IQ Diagnostic Form Monitors Quality of Check Images

ATLANTA, Sept. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Financial institutions will have one more resource available to help them implement the requirements of Check 21 thanks to a partnership between Harland Printed Products and Orbograph.

Harland Printed Products, a division of John H. Harland Company (NYSE:JH), is introducing the IQ Diagnostic Form(r), a new form jointly developed with Orbograph, the leading provider of check image recognition solutions, to test the image quality on check sorters.

The IQ Diagnostic Form is part of Orbograph's AutomatedIQA Solution, which captures and analyzes large groups of images, such as checks being processed for payment. With the new diagnostic form, financial institutions can monitor images at the point of capture and can distinguish the results between multiple scanning devices on both a local and enterprise level. If the images are of poor quality or other defects are detected, the AutomatedIQA solution notifies the end user. The new diagnostic form is available exclusively through Harland.

"This new form is a tool that enhances the image quality control process for our customers," said Tom Jones, with Harland Printed Products. "It's one more way that we are helping our customers prepare for Check 21."

"The consistency of Harland's production operations provides the foundation to eliminate document-related quality issues," said Joe Gregory, vice president of strategic sales with Orbograph. "This new diagnostic form builds on that foundation and enables us to identify and eliminate check image problems at their source. As a result, we can help financial institutions to prepare for image exchange and improve overall check processing performance."
