2005 3G CDMA Americas Congress Workshops to Explore CDMA2000 Network Evolution and Wireless Security Requirements

MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 29, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) --

WHAT: The 2005 3G CDMA Americas Congress (www.cdma-americas.com)
will feature two pre-conference workshops exploring
CDMA2000(r) network evolution and wireless security
requirements. The network evolution workshop will examine
the steps carriers need to take to migrate from CDMA2000
            1X and 1xEV-DO Rev. 0 to 1xEV-DO Rev. A and beyond. It
will also provide an in-depth look at CDMA networks that
are rapidly evolving to all-IP next-generation systems.
The wireless security workshop will explore the topic of
evolving security requirements for wireless networks and
how to develop effective strategies and solutions to
            protect mobile systems and devices.

CDMA network evolution workshop topics include:
-- Overview of current CDMA2000 standards
-- Network upgrades required in migrating to 1xEV-DO
                  systems
-- Enabling higher-speed uplink and downlink, and
resulting services and applications that can be
                  offered
              -- Implementation of VoIP
              -- Beyond 1xEV-DO Rev. A

            Wireless security workshop topics include:
-- Understanding the latest security threats to mobile
                  networks and devices
-- Delivering appropriate levels of security and
                  privacy protection
-- Overview of detection and migration techniques for
                  protecting data
-- Evaluating new technologies and techniques for
                  protecting data

WHO: Speakers for the network evolution workshop are BK Yi,
3GPP2; Sam Samra, Senior Director, Technical Programs,
CDMA Development Group (CDG); Ed Chao, Director, CDMA
