WOODLAND, Calif., April 10, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Healing involves much more than just taking medication and healing our physical selves. It also delves deeper into our mental, emotional and spiritual condition, freeing us from the anguish of painful experiences. From Darkness Into The Light, an inspirational book of poetry by Dorothy M. Small, brings us out of the dark abyss of despair onto the path of healing, spiritual growth and enlightenment.

From Darkness Into The Light expresses life's experiences through free style poetic verse, bringing into light those experiences that need healing. These poignant poems reflect the human condition of pain through abandonment and loss, but through the spirit of divine intervention, healing can begin. Regardless of gender or religion, the transcendent messages of the poems deliver a timely message for all who long for peace. This poetry serves as an instrument for healing, reaching inside of us, bringing into the light feelings buried in the darkness of an internal cave within ourselves.

About the Author

As a registered nurse, Dorothy M. Small witnessed the effects of illness and loss. However, she has had first hand experience. As a young child, the author lost her mother through death, her father by abandonment and rejection, and her siblings and she were separated. Catastrophic losses have a domino effect. Ms. Small's marriage ended and after a while, her two young sons moved across the country to live with their father. About a year and a half after the divorce, ovarian cancer threatened her life at the age of forty. The depression that ensued was horrendous.
