It has also supported almost $20 million in research to expand the science of transplantation, including grants, fellowships and educational endeavors, and encourages efforts to improve the understanding of donation and transplantation among the medical community and the public at large. The MTF maintains the highest levels of safety assurance and quality control in all phases of its operations. For more information on the MTF, visit their website at www.mtf.org.

Dr. Frankel is also the former chairman and chief executive officer of the New York University (NYU) Medical Center's Hospital for Joint Diseases, and currently serves as a professor of orthopedic surgery at the NYU School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Frankel has held senior medical positions as chairman, professor of orthopedic surgery, and director of the Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Washington (Seattle), and is President Emeritus of the Hospital for Joint Diseases.
