About Only Make Believe:

Only Make Believe is a non-profit organization that provides theatrical workshops free-of-charge to children living with chronic illnesses and disabilities.

Founded in 1999 by Dena Hammerstein, in memory of her late husband James Hammerstein (son of Oscar Hammerstein), the company has presented more than 1,000 workshops in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx reaching over 14,000 children. The concept of Only Make Believe developed out of Dena's desire to introduce children in hospitals to the magical world of theatre.

OMB's unique theatrical workshops are one hour sessions, conducted once a week for six consecutive weeks. They are led by a team of professional actors and are designed specifically to include the audience in the storytelling process allowing the children to enter a world of make believe enabling them to see a world of possibilities rather than disabilities.
