HCC Names Strusz Executive Vice President of HCC Life Insurance Company Subsidiary


HOUSTON, March 19, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:HCC) announced today that Daniel A. Strusz has been promoted to Executive Vice President of the Company's HCC Life Insurance Company (HCC Life) subsidiary, reporting to HCC Life President and Chief Executive Officer Craig J. Kelbel.

Strusz has more than 25 years of experience in health insurance management. In addition to serving as Regional Executive Vice President of HCC Life, he has held a number of management positions with Allianz Life, National Benefits Resources, Fortis Benefits and Paul Burke and Associates. Strusz has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.

"In his new position, Dan Strusz will be responsible for managing HCC Life's regional medical stop-loss offices in Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Texas, as well as its Healthcare Risk Management Division and LifeTrac Network.
