Entropic Communications and Browan Communications Expand Broadband Access to Additional Chinese Markets

Ongoing Partnership Deploys Convenient and Cost-Effective Broadband Services

SAN DIEGO, March 20, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon solutions to enable connected home entertainment, today announced that its strategic partnership with Chinese-owned BROWAN Communications will expand to bring Entropic's c.LINK(r) Access technology to three additional Chinese cities: Tianjin, Suzhou and Guilin. BROWAN Communications' extended service region provides its customers in single-family homes as well as multi-dwelling units (MDUs) a cost-effective alternative for receiving multimedia content over the previously existing coax cabling.

c.LINK(r) Access Roadmap Meets the Diverse Needs of the Chinese Market

With Entropic's c.LINK Access technology, BROWAN is able to offer its customers, leading MSOs and cable operators in China, cost-effective, high-speed Internet connections with the future opportunity of deploying video and voice service. c.LINK Technology does not require expensive and labor-intensive telecommunications equipment upgrades because of its ability to work with existing coaxial wires. Additionally, the c.LINK Access roadmap delivers extra bandwidth and raises the performance bar to "future-proof" the broadband access network.

"We value the flexibility that Entropic's c.LINK Access technology offers. We are now able to deliver a triple- play solution to China cable operators," stated Jeff Qiang, CTO and VP of BROWAN Communications Inc. (Shanghai). "In addition, Entropic's c.LINK Access roadmap has evolved to specifically address the diverse bandwidth needs of the Chinese market."

A Cost-Effective Triple-Play Solution

With Entropic's c.LINK Access technology, service providers have a cost-effective solution for seamlessly delivering integrated triple-play services such as IP video, voice and data to consumers. With the flip of a switch, BROWAN customers can provide enhanced video and voice service functionality without the need for labor-intensive hardware installations. By partnering with Entropic and integrating its c.LINK technology, BROWAN has been able to offer Chinese service providers a completely differentiated all-in-one solution.

"It has been a pleasure working with BROWAN. They have developed excellent products leveraging c.LINK Access to address various market segments in China," remarked John Graham, VP of Marketing at Entropic Communications. "Both Entropic and BROWAN are committed to working together to provide top-tier broadband at an affordable price."

BROWAN's network controllers utilizing Entropic's c.LINK systems solution have already been deployed in several Chinese cities and provinces including Tianjin City, Suzhou City/Jiangsu Province, Dongguan City/Guangdong Province, Rui'an City/Zhejiang Province, and Huangshan City/Anhui Province. Deployment in Tianjin, Suzhou and Guilin is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2008.
