The power situation in Norway as of 26 March 2008

Lysaker, 26 March 2008
Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):

Colder weather and higher prices
Decreasing temperatures during week 12 gave an increase in Norwegian power production and consumption. The spot price of power increased in all the Nordic elspot areas. However, Easter limited the temperature effect on prices. Of the Nordic areas the price was lowest in Southern Norway (NO1), 20.8 øre/kWh. In Middle and Northern Norway (NO2 and NO3) the price was 23.6 øre/kWh.

The Norwegian reservoir level fell by 2.9 percentage points during week 12, and was down to 48.0 percent at the end of the week. The reservoir level is now 6.2 percentage points above the median level of the week. The Swedish reservoir level fell by 3.2 percentage points during week 12, and was down to 36.5 percent at the end of the week.
