Solid Access Technologies Unveils 128 GB and 256 GB Solid State Disks

Ultra-Fast Solid State Disks Transcend Storage Device Performance Gap for "Hot File" Access

NEWBURYPORT, MA--(Marketwire - May 6, 2008) - Solid Access Technologies, a leading provider of I/O acceleration appliances, today unveiled its higher capacity Universal Solid State Disks. The addition of 128 and 256 GB models in its USSD 200 product line complement existing 16, 32 and 64 GB units, all of which provide 10 microsecond random read/write access, which dramatically increases server efficiency by recovering CPU cycles formally lost in I/O wait cycles.

"As a complement to traditional Storage infrastructures, the ultra fast SSD category should get organizations thinking about new ways to solve vexing database performance and high concurrent-user issues in transaction intensive applications, as well as a way to get 'greener' and more space efficient," said Jeff Janukowicz, research manager, Hard Disk Drive Components and Solid State Disk Drives, IDC.

The USSD 200 employs the ultra-fast SSD category's first open architecture design, using only proven industry-standard components in the product's assembly -- allowing Solid Access to rapidly adopt new features and industry advancements. Utilizing SDRAM modules as its permanent storage medium and with no moving parts in the data path, a single Solid Access 2U rack mount device requires virtually zero maintenance, far less rack space and only a fraction of typical power and cooling requirements -- while delivering the performance of approximately 300 HDDs at a significantly lower cost. Additional Features Include:

-- Same-Day Performance Improvements For I/O-Intensive Applications
-- True "Plug And Play" Capability
-- Non-Disruptive Addition To Existing Storage Infrastructure
-- Seamlessly Integrated Into Tiered Storage Environments
-- Scalable To Terabyte Capacities

"For applications facing critical performance demands that can't be serviced by decades old spindle-based storage, ultra-fast SSD is emerging as a weapon of choice to improve lagging storage speed," said Solid Access Managing Partner, Tomas Havrda.
