Content-House Deploys Kasenna Solutions, Enables IPTV Service Offerings for Russian Telcos

Leading Moscow Service Provider Leverages MediaBase XMP and LivingRoom Middleware for VOD and Service Delivery Portal

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 18, 2008) - Kasenna, The IPTV Company™, today announced that Content-House, an independent provider of interactive TV and PC services to Russian broadband operators, is using Kasenna MediaBase video server software and Kasenna LivingRoom middleware to deliver video-on-demand services to telcos and their customers across the country. For the first time, the new service will bring and on-demand content to hundreds of thousands of Russian households.

Content-House enables Russian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to offer branded IPTV services without having to deploy or develop the infrastructure and expertise to provide them. Content-House is compiling and managing all of the system's content in its Moscow facility, and makes IPTV service available via custom-branded interfaces for each broadband carrier using Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase servers in multiple regional locations. To offer the IPTV service, broadband providers can simply connect their customers to one of the regional solutions.

"We looked at all the credible IPTV solutions in the market, and Kasenna offered the only platform that gave us out-of-the-box functionality, integrated easily with our ecosystem partners but also allowed us to rapidly customize the interface for each broadband operator customer," said Roman Kurguzov, CEO of Content-House. "With this solution, we were able to build a complete IPTV offering within weeks and know we will be in control of its future."

To keep up with growing market awareness and desire for TV on Demand services, Content-House will add network-based personal video recording (nPVR) service to its system later in the year. It is also exploring development a first iteration of the user portal, aiming to add entirely new and innovative services using the Kasenna LivingRoom SDK.

"Rapid deployment, full integration with the IPTV ecosystem, easy customization and easy development of new services are key characteristics that set Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase apart from all other IPTV solutions," said Vivek Pendharkar, president and CEO of Kasenna. "Content-House is leveraging these qualities exceptionally well by rolling out IPTV quickly across a huge geography with locally customized interfaces and services for independent broadband operators."

The Content-House deployment will be one of the case studies referenced by Andrey Guriyanov, Kasenna's Sales Director for Russia and the CIS, at the IPTV Forum on June 24-25 at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Moscow. "The scheme used by Content-House is very popular in Russia," said Guriyanov, "and a lot of this comes from the increased competition in IPTV offerings from big operators. Small and mid-size operators have to decide whether to deploy their own IPTV infrastructure or buy readymade services from a service provider like Content-House." Along with key business model issues for all sizes of operators, the keynote presentation will look at how the business model decisions affect the design of cost-effective and scalable distributed architecture IPTV systems.
