21 Agencies Submit Grant Proposals to Implement COPsync, Inc. Software Technology

CANYON LAKE, Texas, Aug. 26, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- COPsync, Inc. (OTCBB:COYN), a software technology provider to law enforcement and emergency service professionals, announces today that 21 law enforcement agencies have submitted grant applications to federal and state funding authorities to implement the COPsync information sharing technology. If awarded, the technology will bring them into compliance with federal mandates established by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in regards to interoperability and information sharing.

In the past, the Department of Homeland Security approved federal funding for the implementation of the COPsync(tm) technology. As an overlay product, COPsync(tm) works with existing technologies without the need to change current software or jeopardize existing vendor relationships. COPsync's(tm) data integration brings existing vendors into compliance with federal mandates established after September 11, 2001.

According to Grant Specialist, Jesse Ledesma, Jr. of COPsync, Inc., "COPsync is in a unique position to leverage a large percentage of the available grant funds as one of the few technology providers which meet the requirements of information sharing as set forth after 9/11 by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for federal grants."

There is currently over $40 billion in Homeland Security funds to provide law enforcement agencies or Private Security Firms with the ability to achieve interoperability. To date, interoperability between law enforcement agencies in the United States fails to exist. COPsync fulfills the interoperability role through the deployment of its proprietary software. COPsync(tm) is the first and only integrated software product that provides a real-time, nationwide information sharing network for law enforcement officers. The software enables officers to instantaneously identify criminals, communicate with other officers, and access life saving and mission critical information via laptop computer or handheld devices.
