Great Match Chicago: Wine & Tapas Tasting to Be Held Tuesday, May 5

Wines From Spain Partners With 'Greater Chicago Food Depository' as Beneficiary of Annual Event


CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - Wines from Spain, a division of the Trade Commission of Spain, will partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depository for its 16th annual Great Match: Wine & Tapas tasting tour on Tuesday, May 5 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at The Ivy Room at Tree Studios at 12 E. Ohio in Chicago. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository -- the city's food bank -- a non-profit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in Chicago. Tickets are available for purchase at www.greatmatch.org.

Wines from Spain selected the Greater Chicago Food Depository as part of its commitment to make a difference in the community. The Food Depository distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 500,000 adults and children every year. Last year, the Food Depository distributed more than 46 million pounds of nonperishable food and fresh produce, dairy products and meat, the equivalent of more than 95,000 meals every day.

The Great Match Chicago will feature eight prominent Chicago-area chefs, including:

--  Yamandu Perez, Zak's Place
--  Nick Lacasse, The Drawing Room
--  Jeff Brantley, Tizi Melloul

Each chef will prepare small signature dishes designed to show the versatility of Spanish wines. Guests will have the opportunity to taste more than 200 current release wines, highlighting Spain´s indigenous varietals.

Prior to the consumer Great Match tasting, Wines from Spain invites wine and restaurant professionals and media for a tasting of Spain's most sought-after wines from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Attendees will be asked to provide a business card at registration.

Trade and media professionals are also invited to a limited-seating educational seminar, "Spanish Solutions," from 12:30-1:30 p.m., led by Leslie Sbrocco, an award-winning author, writer, speaker, wine consultant and television host.
