HealthEast Roselawn Clinic to Participate in Stratis Health Culture Care Connection Initiative

ST. PAUL, MN--(Marketwire - June 5, 2009) - HealthEast Roselawn Clinic in St. Paul is one of more than 25 Minnesota primary care clinics participating in Culture Care Connection 2009-2010. Culture Care Connection is an initiative designed to increase cross-cultural understanding of health care consumers and prepare health care providers to become more effective in providing care to diverse populations. Several staff members from Roselawn Clinic are involved in the initiative.

During the next two years, Stratis Health will work with Roselawn Clinic and other Minnesota clinics to improve cultural competency and increase awareness of the national Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards. CLAS standards, developed by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, provide policy and practice guidelines for health care systems to assist in improving quality of care for culturally diverse populations.

"HealthEast Roselawn Clinic is committed to providing quality care for all of our patients. Our participation in Culture Care Connection demonstrates our commitment," stated Mona Walden-Frey, Clinic Manager. She went on to say, "Our clinic takes great pride in serving a very culturally diverse community of patients and this program will help us to provide even better care."
