Bad Vilbel, August 24, 2009 - The Supervisory Board of STADA Arzneimittel
AG at its meeting today elected Dr. Martin Abend (46) new Chairman of the
Supervisory Board.

Dr. Abend, attorney in Dresden, has already been a member of STADA's
Supervisory Board since 2003.

The previous Chairman of STADA's Supervisory Board Dr. Eckhard Brüggemann
(69) had resigned from his position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board
before; he will, however, remain a member of the Supervisory Board. The
medical professional from Herne has been a member of the Supervisory Board
since 1997 and was Chairman of this committee since 2001.

Moreover, the member of the Supervisory Board Uwe E. Flach has today
resigned from the Supervisory Board as of September 24, 2009, after the
one-month period stipulated by the Company's articles of incorporation. Mr.
Flach had been a member of the Supervisory Board since 2002.
 
The Supervisory Board and Executive Board would like to thank Dr.
Brüggemann for his many years of commitment as Chairman of the Supervisory
Board as well as Uwe E. Flach for his many years of service on the
Supervisory Board and wish the new Chairman of STADA's Supervisory Board,
Dr. Abend, every success in his new position.
