OIA Global Logistics Selects iWay Software to Streamline B2B and BPA Initiatives

Mid-Size Firm Uses Integration Technology for Competitive Edge

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 25, 2009) - iWay Software, an Information Builders company and innovator of enterprise integration solutions, today announced that it was chosen by OIA Global Logistics to help the company implement a service-oriented architecture (SOA). As an award-winning provider of logistics services and supply-chain solutions, OIA empowers companies of all sizes to expand their global supply chain reach. With iWay integration software, the company was able to open new communications channels with trading partners and streamline internal workflow processes to become more nimble and competitive.

OIA offers three primary services: handling transportation and logistics, providing packaging solutions, and managing supply chains. Fifteen IT professionals support these customer activities and the internal needs of 400 employees. After an intense competitive search for a mid-market integration vendor, OIA selected iWay, because it could easily be implemented with a small IT staff within a short timeframe. iWay's platform provided OIA with the ability to leverage existing servers and platforms, minimizing the impact of both infrastructure and training.

"iWay helped us streamline both internal and external processes, making our business more efficient," said Paul Wogan, chief information officer, OIA Global Logistics. "They supplied unmatched responsiveness and support, ensuring the success of our implementation."

OIA's first integration project with iWay was to develop new communication channels with a large footwear and apparel customer that required a mix of XML and EDI interfaces. OIA used the iWay Business-to-Business (B2B) Suite, with a managed file transfer (MFT) gateway designed to plan, execute, and track trading partner activities. Built on the iWay Universal Adapter Framework and the iWay integration engine, the suite supports key EDI standards and B2B transactions so trading partners can collaborate and share information in real time.

OIA is also using iWay's business process automation (BPA) capabilities to simplify a variety of application-to-application integration projects. For example, iWay processes orders through the order management system, procures goods, manages shipping, provides status information, bills customers, and updates OIA's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system -- all as part of a unified workflow.

"OIA's competitive edge largely relies on their ability to smooth the flow of goods, money, and information with efficient supply-chain planning," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO, Information Builders. "Our software and support helps them run business more effectively, allowing them to better meet customers' needs."

In the future, iWay will enable OIA to standardize B2B integration activities and streamline supply chain processes with customers to further improve efficiency. This will simplify the development cycle and open up opportunities for new partnerships since it enables OIA to quickly integrate prospective customers with its core applications.
