ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 7, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today a new contract with Gas Natural Mexico S.A. de C.V., to deliver a turnkey technology solution to control its extensive natural gas distribution network.
Gas Natural will increase the efficiency and security of its 15,229 kilometres of gas network, ensuring supply to 1,250,000 residential and industrial customers in 38 municipalities of the country. Accurate, real-time field information will be integrated into Gas Natural's enterprise information systems to optimize processes such as billing and inventory management.
Telvent will lead a system update of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, guaranteeing a smooth transition without non-planned outages. Secure and reliable supply in a growing energy consumption market will be further strengthened by system redundancies, along with maintenance service.
Telvent's highly scalable systems will ensure that Gas Natural can meet its current needs and those which can be found in the future. Telvent has collaborated with Gas Natural Mexico since the year 2000, when the first OASyS SCADA was supplied. It also has installed Telvent's automation and control systems in its gas distribution facilities in Spain and Colombia.
