Microvision Inc. (MVIS) engages in the development of miniature display and imaging engines based on its proprietary PicoP display engine platform in the United States. Its technology platform uses two dimensional micro-electrical mechanical system (MEMS), lasers, optics and electronics to create a video or still image from a small form factor device. During the year ended December 31, 2009, the Company had launched the sale of a small accessory projector based on the PicoP display engine. The accessory projector can display images from a range of video sources, including cell phones, portable media players, gaming consoles, laptop computers, digital cameras and other consumer electronics products. In March 2010, it announced the sales launch of the accessory projector to customers in the United States.

"MVIS recently announced it has received an $8.5 million order for its new ultra-miniature PicoP laser projection display engine from an undisclosed consumer electronics customer. According to the Company, the original equipment manufacturer plans to embed its product inside a 'high-end mobile media player for release in late 2010 and plans to announce its launch at that time.'
"Late in March, the Company announced it has completed the design and begun shipping initial evaluation samples to several prospective customers of its new display engine that incorporates a proprietary ASIC chipset half the original size ... Also unique to the Company's technology is the fact that the projected images are always in focus without the need for focusing dials or optics, which benefits mobile consumers."
