American Pulse(TM): 40% of Registered Voters Agree With Tea Party Principles

Americans Not Confident Government Policies Will Lower Unemployment, Get Economy on Track

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  It's probably a good thing for the Obama administration not to increase tensions with "tea partiers" because 40.1% of registered voters say they agree/strongly agree with the principles of the Tea Party movement (limited government, lower taxes, anti-stimulus, anti-deficit and anti-bailout), according to the latest American Pulse™ survey of 5,058 Americans. It's not surprising that 58.8% of Republicans agree with their philosophies, but what is interesting is that 43.9% of Independents and even 21.1% of Democrats have similar opinions.

In general, on a scale of 1-5, how much do you agree with the following group of principles regarding government: limited government, anti-stimulus, anti-deficit, anti-bailout and lower taxes?
