(Pink Sheets:TTCS), an information technology, security and telecommunications company, and Geocomp Corp., a global leader in geo-engineering, today jointly released the details of the OilDam® product designed to mitigate damage from the Gulf oil spill. OilDam® is a comprehensive solution which can be immediately deployed to provide a reliable means to keep the oil from reaching the shore, contain it and enable its removal.
The OilDam® solution will keep oil away from the shore, contain it and pump it into storage containers for recycling. By using the concept of 'water-blocking-oil' (water-filled bladders made of geosynthetic materials), OilDam® geosynthetic tubes are placed in the shallows at distances of 20 to 50 feet from the shore to form a barrier impenetrable to oil from the sea floor to several feet above sea level. This fixed barrier blocks oil and floating contaminants, submerged oil and tar balls from reaching the shore. At the same time, it allows water to pass back and forth through its base to maintain normal tidal flushing of the shoreline, allowing critical shoreline life to be protected. The system is unique in its diverse capabilities, utilizing manufacturing, fabrication and deployment techniques that have been well developed over the past 40 years.
