no 29/10 Initiative to improve liquidity on German power

Lysaker, 27 May 2010

From 1 June 2010, NASDAQ OMX Commodities, through Nord Pool ASA, will implement the following initiatives to attract liquidity to German power:

Liquidity Pool
NASDAQ OMX Commodities has invited key players in the German power market to participate in a liquidity pool. The liquidity pool will consist of 4 to 8 members, actively contributing to boost liquidity.

Lift in /clear old positions for free
From the 1 June 2010 until the 30 December 2010, we will offer all exchange and clearing members the opportunity to clear old positions with no clearing fee. The offer is limited to German power contracts and requires both counterparts to agree on receiving a Nord Pool defined contract. E.g. swap a German physical non-cleared forward to a cleared Nord Pool German settled financial forward.

Inter Commodity Spread Credit
As informed in /en/asa/Quotes-and-market-information/Exchange-information/2010/no-2510-Inter-Commodity-Spread-Credit-/ exchange and clearing information no 25/10 , Inter Commodity Spread Credit (ICSC) calculation is now in operation, which gives margin benefits for products from the same product series (e.g. Nordic power vs. German power) and for products from separate product series (e.g. Nordic power vs. EUA allowances).
