Fwix Launches Places Pages, Gets More Hyperlocal

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 2, 2010) -   Fwix, the local information company, today announced the availability of Places Pages. Places Pages answer the question "what's happening?" at any business, place or other point of interest in the U.S. in real-time by geo-tagging everything from news, events, check-ins and more. The company also announced it is serving more than 100 million of its hyperlocal content widgets each month to publishers and other media properties, just one year after launching the platform.

Last month Fwix unveiled the search technology behind Places Pages. Today's launch is making that available without searching -- in place format. Last week, Fwix's local Places Pages information engine was a part of AT&T's rollout of that company's new YP.com site.

"We want to build a timeline of what's happening for every geo-point on the planet," said Fwix CEO and founder Darian Shirazi. "This is really the first four-dimensional view of the world and, combined with our search technology, we believe we've built the ultimate hyperlocal product."

Fwix is the fastest-growing local news and information network, as well as a top-rated iPhone and iPad news app for more than two hundred markets in the English-speaking world. Fwix's technology rounds up news, events, government data, business reviews, check-ins and anything else in real-time and makes it available to developers, publishers and, today, Places Pages for readers and users.
