Kirkel, 15 September 2010 - At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of
Praktiker Bau- und Heimwerkermärkte Holding AG agreed on a comprehensive
reorganization of the Board of Management, setting the course for a
successful implementation of the value creation program 'Praktiker 2013'
announced in March.

Markus Schürholz, 45, has been appointed to the Management Board of
Praktiker Bau- und Heimwerkermärkte Holding AG with immediate effect. He
will take over the Finance, M&A, Investor Relations, Controlling and
Accounting/Tax responsibilities. The former Chief Financial Officer, Thomas
Ghabel, has ceased to be a member of Praktiker's Management Board. In
addition, the number of Management Board members will be reduced to four
from five members. Karl-Heinz Stroh, Management Board Member in charge of
Human Resources, will leave the company at best terms with the
Supervisory Board. Management Board Member Michael Arnold will take over
Human Resources in addition to his current responsibilities International
Expansion and Store Portfolio Management.

In his previous position, Markus Schürholz worked as Chief Financial
Officer of Escada AG. Before that, he was Director Finance of Douglas
Holding AG. After completing his business management studies, he worked in
different positions at Haniel-Group, among others in the U.S., Asia and
Italy, and as Managing Director Finance at Ratiopharm International GmbH.
