Amy Mielke Named to Hartford's First Commission on Cultural Affairs

Position Combines Artistic Talents, Professional Acumen, and Organizational Skills

WESTBROOK, CT--(Marketwire - February 15, 2011) - Amy Mielke, Strategic Advisor at O'Brien Communications Group (OCG), has been appointed to the new Commission on Cultural Affairs for the City of Hartford. As commissioners, Amy and her peers will be responsible for developing an arts policy for presentation to the Court of Common Council; assessing the activities of the Office of Cultural Affairs; providing budgetary recommendations for each fiscal year; and approving all arts-related city improvements, including monuments, murals, and lighting projects.

"This is an amazing opportunity to balance talents, professional sensibilities, and community service," said Ms. Mielke. "To be able to contribute to Hartford's cultural and artistic endeavors is an honor. And I look forward to helping to put Hartford's art community -- and its broad diversity of artists and media -- on the map throughout the state and the region."

"Perhaps nothing is as important to marketing and the effective reflection and positioning of brands as perspective," said Mark O'Brien, principal of O'Brien Communications Group. "To have someone as accomplished and variedly talented as Amy as part of our team is a gift. To have Amy appointed to Hartford's Commission on Cultural Affairs is a well-deserved recognition of her artistic talent, her professional capabilities, and her organizational skills. We're very proud of her, to say the least."
