Nate Ruden, MD, Joins Avalon Health Care as Chief Medical Officer for Utah

Salt Lake City, Utah, July 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avalon Health Care, Inc. recently appointed Nate Ruden, MD, as Chief Medical Officer for Utah, the first-of-its-kind role in skilled nursing in the state.

Dr. Ruden oversees the care of the patients and residents located in Avalon Health Care's skilled nursing centers throughout the greater Salt Lake City region.  As Chief Medical Officer for Utah, he works with the centers' clinical teams to enhance clinical resources and abilities for patient care.  His leadership provides continuity of care from hospitals to Avalon's complex medical programs.

"I found my passion for sub-acute and post-acute care early in my medical career," said Dr. Ruden.  "During my residency, I discovered I had a strong interest in the complexity of geriatrics and began to focus on this specialty area.  I have had the privilege of working with multiple providers over the years and am pleased to join Avalon, a leading health care provider, whose primary focus is on quality of care and outcomes."

Dr. Ruden is a board-certified family physician, which underscores his exceptional expertise in the delivery of sub-acute and post-acute geriatric care.  He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2006 and completed family practice residency at St. Mark's Family Medicine in Salt Lake City in 2011.  He is a 2002 graduate of Brigham Young University.

"As Utah's largest skilled nursing provider, we know that quality care and clinical expertise are crucial to our success," said Sabine von Preyss-Friedman, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Avalon Health Care, Inc.  "We are always looking for innovative ways to help enhance patient outcomes.  Dr. Ruden's expertise in the Salt Lake market helps us expand our centers of excellence for today's patients and those for years to come."
