Grupo Gondi awards $1.7 million donation to Christel House Mexico

The Grupo Gondi donation will help equip and operate a new Christel House Mexico school

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., April 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Christel House Mexico has received a grant equivalent of approximately $1.7 million USD from Grupo Gondi. This four-year grant will help fund equipment and operational expenses of a new Christel House Mexico school, opening in 2016 in Mexico City.

"We are really happy that high-level Mexican company executives are turning their heads to see the neediest children in Mexico-- and then doing something to transform their lives. Grupo Gondi is a very important ally and we are glad to have them partnering with us," stated Javier Alarcón Benet, Executive Director of Christel House Mexico.

Christel House Mexico was established in Mexico City in 1998 and currently serves more than 400 severely impoverished students in grades 1-9. It combines a quality education with a strong character building program to give students the tools to escape generational poverty. To further serve the community, Christel House Mexico will be expanding its Mexico City footprint by relocating to a newly constructed school, expected to open for the 2016-2017 academic year. The 75,000 square foot facility will have the capacity to serve 780 students, from pre-first through 12th grade. In addition to classrooms, the school will have two computer labs, language, math and science lab, as well as music and art rooms.

"In Gondi we believe it is our duty to give when we can, especially to those pillar of society-- youth and education. Only then will this world and Mexico move forward. And, we see this as an investment, not necessarily as an act of generosity. We are happy to invest in this project that we are confident will bring benefits that go beyond the value of money or material goods," indicated Alejandro González, Vice President, Grupo Gondi.
