DUBLIN - September 10, 2015 - Medtronic plc (NYSE: MDT) was recognized as one of the world's leading companies for sustainability with its ranking on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI North America) for the eighth consecutive year. DJSI North America analyzes companies on a variety of sustainability criteria, including economic performance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This adds to the recognition Medtronic received earlier this year through its continued inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series.

One example is our developing partnership with Apollo Hospitals in India to address end-stage renal disease for patients who need renal replacement therapy. The goal is to bring an affordable and portable hemodialysis system to market in the region, where about 10 percent of adults are affected by chronic kidney disease. The development of this new therapy will reduce barriers to treatment and help improve access to dialysis treatment. Medtronic is supporting the project with expanded R&D in India and a hemodialysis manufacturing plant in China that opened during FY2015.
