NeuLion Integrates Intel® Software Guard Extensions Into Its UHD Streaming Solution

NeuLion will deliver premium Over The Top (OTT) 4K video to Intel-powered PCs

LAS VEGAS, April 24, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NeuLion, Inc. (TSX:NLN), a leading technology product and service provider specializing in the broadcasting, distribution, and monetization of live and on-demand digital video content to Internet-enabled devices, today announced that the NeuLion® Digital Platform will integrate Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX), which is a set of CPU instructions for PCs that supports many security use cases, including authentication, trusted transactions, and media security. Intel SGX will enable NeuLion to deliver premium UHD video content in resolutions up to 4K, using some of the most advanced technology available on 7th Generation Intel® Core™ processors.

PCs continue to be one of the most popular options with consumers for viewing online content. As a result of the integration with Intel SGX, the NeuLion Digital Platform will enable customers to more securely stream UHD content in 4K to the millions of 4K-capable, Intel-powered PCs, unlocking a new market segment for premium video and accelerating the delivery of 4K live and on demand content to an even broader consumer base. Intel SGX will be available on 7th Generation Intel Core processors and beyond, and 4K displays will also be available on select Intel-powered PCs.

The NeuLion Digital Platform, which powers services* for the NFL, NBA, UFC, TERN Insight TV, and Eleven Sports, among many others, is an end-to-end platform providing licensed software components as well as services from content ingestion, encoding, and management to content security, monetization, monitoring, and analytics that streamline the content delivery process. The platform delivers apps that facilitate the streaming of high-quality content, including premium sports and entertainment.

“As one of the most trusted names in the delivery of OTT content, recognized for our depth and breadth of global content providers and outstanding quality, we are excited about this new long-term collaboration with Intel,” said NeuLion’s President and CEO, Roy Reichbach. “NeuLion and Intel are a natural fit, as 4K content being produced by our many customers and delivered by NeuLion will be further enabled and powered with 7th Generation Intel Core processors for a higher-quality end user experience. And with Intel SGX, the content will also have enhanced security.”

“Consumer demand for high-quality video content is on the rise,” said Rick Echevarria, Vice President, Intel Software and Services Group, and General Manager, Intel Platforms Security Division. “We’re very pleased that Intel’s Software Guard Extensions will enable NeuLion to serve this audience and help ensure the secure delivery of 4K UHD on Intel-powered PCs.”
