The bi-monthly event also included area organizations that shared in the Thanksgiving spirit at this block party: WURK Community Radio, Grupo Folklorico Mahetzi, Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife, 7th Stream Flow Ministry, Angels on Assignment, Zaksee Bird Sanctuary and Polaris Disaster Response. Owl’s Nest Sanctuary gave youngsters the chance to meet an owl up close and personal.

Also joining in on the event was the Clearwater Fire Department, whose fire truck and distribution of toy fire hats was a hit with the attendees.

Providing a soundtrack to the festivities was the Church of Scientology’s “Flag Band” with guest singers Michael Graves, Michele Henderson and Palmer Dernehl. Starting out with a Country Music set and then rolling through pop music and R&B, the band brought the attendees to their feet.

Guests also visited the social betterment non-profit centers sponsored by the Church of Scientology: United for Human Rights, The Way to Happiness Foundation, Foundation for a Drug Free World, Criminon, Scientology Volunteer Ministers, and Citizens Commission on Human Rights. For those wanting to find out about these programs, guests were provided with educational materials that included drug prevention, the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, non-religious moral education and Scientology Tools for Life.

The Block Party was capped by a free chance drawing. Those with the lucky numbers won prizes such as gift certificates from local participating restaurants and $100, $250, and $500 VISA gift cards.

Ray and Jane who attended the block party with their 3 kids said, “Recently we’ve been having a really hard time as we lost our place and are staying in a very small efficiency. We are very thankful for all that the Church of Scientology provided at the Block party. It was so nice that everything was free – the games, the food – everything! Most carnivals you go to you end up spending so much to have a good time. This brought smiles to our kids' faces, which we haven’t experienced together for a long time. This event was really a blessing. Thank you!”
