Clearwater’s Scientology Information Center Offers a New View of Scientology

CLEARWATER, Fla., May 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Having ushered more than 23,000 visitors across its threshold since opening nearly three years ago, downtown Clearwater’s Scientology Information Center is providing a new look at one of the world’s fastest growing religions. The Center is open every day, from 10am to 10pm. The Center features a gallery of more than 400 videos about the Church, Scientology’s founder L. Ron Hubbard and the humanitarian programs supported by members of the Church.

“There is a lot of interest in Scientology,” said Amber Skjelset, the Manager of the Information Center. “Our doors are open so that people can come in, take advantage of the self-guided tour and find out what Scientology is for themselves.”

“One area that generates a lot of attention is the Truth About Drugs Program,” continued Ms. Skjelset. “This program educates youth on what drugs consist of, what they do to the body and how these substances affect the mind – this is empowering youth to learn for themselves about drugs and to make their own decision to stay away from them.”

Another popular subject covered by the Center is information about the life of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. An Eagle Scout, licensed pilot and Master Mariner, Mr. Hubbard’s accomplishments are told through a series of autobiographical vignettes and video interviews of people who knew and worked with him – from one of his college friends to his secretary at Saint Hill Manor, Mr. Hubbard’s home in England.

The Center also regularly hosts concerts, community meetings and old-time radio-style readings of Mr. Hubbard’s fiction works from the thirties and forties.

“What most people don’t realize is that Mr. Hubbard funded his research for what became Dianetics and Scientology through writing for pulp magazines. His stories of high adventure, western dramas and thrillers are brought to life by the East Coast Golden Age Theater every other month.”

Visitors can drop by the Center any time during its hours of operation. If you would like more information about the Center and its events, or to schedule a tour, please contact (727) 467-6966.
