Nasdaq Announces Mid-Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date September 14, 2018


NEW YORK, Sept. 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of September 14, 2018, short interest in 2,369 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,523,975,122 shares compared with 7,314,133,731 shares in 2,365 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of August 31, 2018. The mid-September short interest represents 4.47 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.80 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 939 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 1,165,368,816 shares at the end of the settlement date of September 14, 2018 compared with 1,098,458,755 shares in 936 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.39 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.72.

In summary, short interest in all 3,308 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,689,343,938 shares at the September 14, 2018 settlement date, compared with 3,301 issues and 8,412,592,486 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.00 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.37.
